Coming Home | Kim and Brent’s wedding, Oyen Alberta

February 11, 2021

Kim and Brent, Oyen Alberta.

In the last six years Kim and Brent have spent their time building a life together.

When friends set them up to meet at a wedding these two hit it off and danced the night away. Their relationship hasn’t all been easy but they’ve made their home in each others hearts.

Kim dreamed of getting married in her home town of Oyen since she was a little girl. Brent made that dream come true when he agreed to celebrate their love with their family and friends in the little prairie town north east of Calgary, Alberta. For Kim it was a dream come true – barring the red carpet in her childhood church.

Now, a January wedding in Alberta can be a risky affair. You never know what nature is going to throw at you.

You might get a snow squall, or minus -40 wind chills, or a chinook and no snow at all! Alberta is a fickle lady and when she decides not to dance, she cannot be persuaded.

Thankfully January 4th 2020 dawned clear and bright, albeit a bit windy but perfect for filming a winter wedding.

The Sacred Heart Parish gave us some amazing backlight for Kim and Brent’s ceremony. We really aren’t sure if the priest forgot what to say or not… Haha. It was charming either way. Finding a greenhouse for family and formal photos is always an excellent idea when getting married in the winter. We’re kinda partial to greenhouses and the natural light is amazing. The tropical feel put a bounce in the whole wedding party’s step.

Half of Oyen came out to the Legion Hall for the dinner and dance. It doesn’t get much more small town Alberta than that.

When Kim and Brent took to the mic to close out the toasts, their big announcement was met with love and support.

We are blessed to do what we do. We get to be a part of the most magical day in a love story, but to be a part of the inner circle of family and friends is always an honour. Kim and Brent, we were blown away at your capacity to serve others and graciously host those who celebrated with you. You’re both kind and genuinely great people.

We had an amazing time and we want to thank you for giving us the honour of sharing your adventure.
